Urban Bones

I live in a condo in a residential part of a major urban area.  I also have a dog.  Due to an esthetically pleasing but mostly useless fence design, I can’t just throw the animal out in my postage-stamp garden when nature calls so we walk.  A lot.  Three times a day to be exact, for a cumulative total time of 1.5 to 2 hours.  Needless to say, we’re getting to know the neighbourhood very well.  On at least one of these walks the dog finds one, if not more bones.  Again, urban area.  In fact several of the streets we wander along are regular commuting routes.  Are people heading out eating ribs and throwing the bones on the side of the road?  Why do I never see this?  Even more though provoking was the shank we recently found.  No-one is seriously enjoying osso bucco while driving are they?  When did McD’s start selling that as a drive-thorough option?

The logical amongst us will say it is from birds or raccoons getting into garbage that’s been left out.  They’re no doubt right.  But just in case…where do you think that osso bucco stand is?
