So, it turns out that a holiday that requires more of you than laying under an umbrella does kind of reduce your usual reading output. There’s one day left in May and I have started a new book today but it is unlikely that it will get completed before month-end. I am on target for beating the over/under though, so that’s something.

33. Lord John and the Hand Of Devils by Diana Gabaldon I started this book when it was given to me for Christmas two or three years ago? Instead of starting where I left off, I chose to just read the whole thing again. It’s pretty short.

I’m also perfectly aware that it is now May, but I did finish these book in April. Promise!

I think I’m back on track for the 95 over/under too. I’m on a plane for a short time tomorrow, but am being dropped off fairly early for my flight. I’ll probably get one more done. Without the pressure to review every book I read, I am managing to keep up with this list, for the most part. Nearly the end of four months of moderately regular postings anyway. Is it enough to believe that it is a habit? Only time will tell.

I’m halfway through Bossypants by Tina Fey and The Bride Collector by Ted Dekker. I’m very slowly working my way through a book of Henry James’ short stories, starting with “The Turn of the Screw”. I still sort of feel that I’ve missed a book somewhere recently….

23. This Body of Death by Elizabeth George. I’ll read anything and everything she’s written. I love her books! Oddly enough, I’ve never read any of her short story collections.

24. The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. Wow. This book was obviously written by someone who loves to read. Beautiful language and imagery, gripping story, shout-outs to books that I’ve read or am reading….I love, love, love this book! It is the author’s debut novel, published five years ago. Why aren’t there any more? I’ve got at least 3 people I need to give this to…

7. The Black Swan by Mercedes Lackey

8. The Sad Truth About Happiness by Anne Giardini

14. Watchlist by Jeffrey Deaver et al

15. A Woman of Substance by Barbara Taylor Bradford

16. American Quartet by Warren Adler

17. Life of Pi by Yann Martell

18. One Day by David Nicholls

19. Broken by Karin Slaughter

20. What Katy did at School by Susan Coolidge. I’m retreating to my childhood here. This book belonged to my great (great?) aunt. I’ve got the third in the series too: What Katy did Next. Interestingly enough, I don’t have the original book What Katy Did. I wonder if I can find it for the Reader?

21. The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde. Another repeat read. This book is just so weird and crazy that it makes me giggle.

22. The Fred Factor by Mark Sanborn. This is out of order, because I forgot to include it! It is a short, “be a better manager” kind of book. 99% good though.

I see that there is yet another movie adaption of my favourite book Jane Eyre. It is getting good reviews too. When it extends its limited run to my city, I’m going to have to give it a try. Speaking of literary films, I saw “The Lincoln Lawyer” last night. It was long enough ago that I read the book that I didn’t spend the whole movie picking apart things, so that’s a good thing. Pretty enjoyable, actually. I’d reccomend it.
